The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
Updated: Jul 25, 2020
Hilarious and absolutely incredible! This is such an interesting concept that is executed magnificently, although slightly confusing to begin with. Funny and inspiring, a must read.
My Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to anyone who is consciously aware that they like reading. The Eyre Affair (and the Thursday Next series as a whole) explores a concept of reading, writing, and books in general that is new and interesting but very much relies on an awareness of the literary world. Also fans of dodos and croquet.
Not For Everyone:
The concept of this book is fairly bizarre and may appear to be a bit silly, but it's actually relatively thought-provoking so make sure you're ready to think about things before you commit to this book.
To The Author:
Bravo.
If You've Never Read The Book And Want To Say You Have:
Ask them which book they'd like to travel to and hope this leads them off on a tangent.
Academic Prompts:
Are books more for the author or the reader? And from who does its meaning derive?
