I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. I mean, overall it was good, I think, but there were points in the book where time spend reading it just dragged. It is quite a long book (at over 500 pages) but it seemed to feel like a lot longer than that. It was a bit slow to start with, it picked up around a quarter of the way through, but then towards the end it seemed to try and wrap everything up neatly, as if the author had ran out of time.
There were some aspects and side storylines that, in my opinion, really did not need to be there. It didn't confuse the story any but it interrupted the flow of the narrative and there wasn't really any point to it. But other parts were excellently written and the main storyline was quite interesting, if a little convoluted.
This book was recommended to me by a friend but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to others.
